Although we are happy to accommodate specialist dietary needs Pumpkin Cakes does not guarantee any of our products are allergen-free, nor do we guarantee gluten-free, dairy-free or Vegan. All our cakes are baked onsite in our kitchen which handles other ingredients. While we do have processes in place to minimise the risk of cross-contamination, due to space restrictions we cannot have segregated production areas, so cross-contamination of ingredients is possible.
There are 14 main allergens: celery, cereals containing gluten (such as barley and oats), crustaceans (such as prawns, crabs and lobsters), eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs (such as mussels and oysters), mustard, peanuts, sesame, soybeans, sulphur dioxide and sulphites (if they are at a concentration of more than ten parts per million) and tree nuts (such as almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, brazil nuts, cashews, pecans, pistachios and macadamia nuts).
We understand that consumers may be allergic or have intolerance to other ingredients that are not listed above; if this is the case you must inform us before any order is placed.
Our kitchen handles all the main allergens of milk, gluten (wheat), egg, nuts, peanuts, sesame, soy, sulphur dioxide and sulphites.
If you have a serious allergy to any of these allergens, or one which could cause you to have a major allergic reaction, the only way for you to be 100% safe is not to order your cake with us.
This information page covers our main cakes as the ingredients and suppliers remain the same. Should there be a change in supplier or any ingredient, allergens will be checked and updated if necessary.
If you request a cake made with specialist ingredients we can provide you with a full ingredient and allergen list applicable at time of request; this is because specialist cakes are not on our main ingredients list and suppliers may change.
Allergens are listed in the ingredient lists in bold.

Colourings and decorative dusts
Our food colourings contain E numbers, some which may have an adverse effect on activity and attenton in children. If you are aware of sensitivity to a particular E-number please make us aware before placing an order. Our food colourings are marked as ‘may contain traces of wheat, eggs, milk, nuts and soy’
We only use glitters and lustures marked as ‘edible’. Some of these are not suitable for Vegetarians or Vegans due to containing shellac. We will always carefully check for non-suitable products before using should you particularly request a cake suitable for Vegetarian or Vegan consumption.
Allergens listed with an asterix *
Wheat Flour: Supplier lists their flour as ‘may contain soya’
Baking Powder: Supplier brands vary, some list as containing wheat four
Lemon Juice: While we make every effort to use freshly squeezed lemon juice, occasionally fresh produce may not be available so we will use concentrate. Concentrate is listed as containing sulphites
Cocoa Powder: Supplier labels this cocoa powder as ‘may contain milk’
Dark Chocolate: Supplier brands vary; some list as containing soya. Also listed as ‘may contain nuts, milk’
Dried Fruit Mixture: Sultanas, Raisins, Candied Citrus Peel (Glucose Syrup, Orange Peel, Lemon Peel, Sugar, Acidity Regulator (Citric Acid), Preservative (Sulphur Dioxide)) Currants, Sunflower Oil.
Icing Sugar: contains Sugar, Anti-caking agent: Tricalcium Phosphate. Manufacturer lists as ‘may contain egg’
Coffee Powder: This is not an allergen but does contain caffeine which some may be sensitive to. There is only a small amount of coffee in our mud cake so the caffeine content may be negligible but please let us know if you would prefer us to use a decaffeinated blend instead.
Fortified Wine: We soak our mixed fruit in a light sherry/fortified wine before adding to our fruit cake. We only use a small amount and in theory, the majority of the alcohol will evaporate during baking but we are aware that at no point can the cake be considered ‘alcohol free’. If you are sensitive to alcohol in any way it would be best to order a sponge cake.
